Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm which is extendable. The boom is usually situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are usually utilized for jobs that require tasks to be done at heights which exceed other kinds of lifts. For instance, employees can perform exterior repairs or renovations on buildings of medium height but utilizing these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are better suited to specific jobs such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in gas or electric configurations and are available with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Since these units must be directly positioned below the work location, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift normally has a larger platform which allows the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area when the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they have to sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for window installation or cladding, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specially for vertical work. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with a winch for carrying and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes which could perform a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of machines excel at various tasks and are great for specific applications and completing particular tasks.
