Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They can run from LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for numerous uses. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machine has to be refueled.
So as to prevent possible serious injury, specific precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to wear the appropriate safety equipment like safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift prior to changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by utilizing the hand.
