There are 2 types of lift trucks, based whether or not they run on gas or electricity:
Internal Combustion or IC Lift trucks: The IC Forklifts run on liquid propane, gas, compressed natural gas or CNG or diesel. The gas powered models are made to be used outdoors as they release pollutants and gases that can be dangerous if inhaled. Gas units are also suitable to be utilized in the rain and in bad weather conditions. These units could lift weights roughly 15,000 to 35,000 pounds. Due to the maintenance and fuel expenses, models that run on gas are more costly to use than models which run on electricity, although, they cost a lot less up front than electric powered units. The liquid propane units are the best option for safe use in indoor applications.
Electric Lift Trucks: Electric forklifts take batteries which need frequent charging. Because these units do not burn any fuel, there are no emissions polluting the air with these vehicles. They are the right option for warehouses and indoor applications. Furthermore, electric forklifts are much quieter to run compared to other models and they do not need any fuel storage units. Among the downsides of the electric models is that they can not carry cargo over 15,000 pounds and hence, have a slower acceleration than gasoline powered units.
The lift truck is specifically designed to transport things and supplies easily and quickly. Mishaps do occur regularly as is the case with nearly all kinds of machines. There are some safety rules that should be followed in order to keep everybody safe. The most important problem is recruiting a qualified operator, who would be able to show you a valid forklift license.
There are many different kinds of lift trucks offered on the market. Deciding which one is right for your specific requirements would be based on the types of loads which you have to transport, what kind of environment your machine would need to operate in, like for example, outdoors or indoors or both. Once you understand your particular requirements, it would be easy to match up to the right type of forklift. When you know all your needs exactly you would be able to make a correct decision.
Leasing is one more great way to try out various units if you want to try out different features and see what type of options are available. This is a cheaper way to know if the type of machinery you have selected could keep up with you on the job site.
